The Gorinchem XII is a Commuter ferry with 2 171 kW PM motors, capable of transporting 100 passengers / 100 bikes. The vessel had to deal with some challenges: it was sailing too fast in certain locations, there was a lack of insight in battery and power usage and it had a high energy consumption rate. ⚠️
Smart-Ship was able to face those challenges with installing our Haptic Controls and the Smart-Ship Data HUB. With the combined data, additional functionalities could be implemented based on the data analysis. 🚀
In this case, Smart-Ship installed 2 Haptic Azimuth Controls and the data-logging tools (the Smart-Ship HUB).
🔎👩🔬 Results were real-time insights on:
- Alarms
- Speed of the vessel
- Location
- Battery status
- Requested power
With those insights, an analysis of historical trips can be gathered to compare with time, energy consumption, weather conditions etc. With the compared analysis, the sailing behavior can be improved to reduce fuel costs, with up to 15% less fuel consumed. 🌿⚡
