The Riveer ferries Gorinchem XII and Altena VI were christened last Wednesday at Holland Shipyards in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. These fully electric ferries are able to sail for over an hour thanks to an 80% weight reduction by making use of a full aluminium hull.

On board of the Riveer ferries, which will be operating between the municipalities of Gemeente Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Gemeente Altena and Gemeente Gorinchem, we will be actively informing the operators on the maximum allowed sailing speeds in relation to their GPS-location through a force in the levers. Other aspects we will be looking at are warnings with regards to shallow water and to indicate optimal acceleration and cruising speeds to extend the action radius.
